The San Diego Police Athletic Federation is a non-profit, mutual benefit organization. Our mission is to provide athletic outlets to our members in order to foster physical fitness and camaraderie.
On Saturday October 15, 2016, at 7:30 AM, the SDPAF will be hosting its annual fundraiser 5k Run/Walk in memory of Officer Jeremy Henwood to benefit the Police Memorial Fund. The event will be held at scenic Chollas Lake Park located at 6350 College Grove Dr. in San Diego. T-shirts to all registered participants.
Jeremy Henwood was a San Diego Police Officer assigned to the Mid-City Division and an active United States Marine Reservist who completed three tours of duty in the Middle East . On August 6, 2011, Jeremy was killed in the line of duty by gunfire while patrolling in his division.
Jeremy loved the community where he worked and loved helping people by always giving. Proof of this includes Jeremy had stopped at a local McDonald’s to pick up dinner just prior to him being killed. While waiting in line, he met a 10-year old boy who did not have enough money for his meal. Without hesitation, Jeremy bought the boy cookies, bringing a smile to his face. This last act of kindness showed what sort of man Jeremy was.
In death, Jeremy again proved his commitment to help others through his choice of being an organ donor. Jeremy is lovingly remembered by his family, friends, coworkers and Marine comrades as larger than life, a humanitarian, and a man of honor who loved outdoor activities and spending time with his friends and family.
We continue his service to the community by hosting the SDPAF 5K run in his honor.
