We all meet at the Gazebo West Bernardo Park at 5 am to help unload the truck and set up for check in. Directions HERE continue past the tennis club and all the way back to the Gazebo……its still a little dark at 5am

Barry, Mike, Mark and Myself will handle parking and setting up the Timing area
At roughly 6:30 am Riley will take the U-haul truck and lead the aid station peeps and sweepers out to their areas.
Aid peeps this is for you! Please have fun, play music and encourage runners. IF A RUNNER IS MILDLY INJURED THERE IS A FIRST AID KIT IN YOU BOX. IF THE RUNNER IS SERIOUSLY INJURED CALL 911. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE CALL ME 619-987-2341 OR KRISTA 619-517-4112. If a runner drops please text the bib number to both of us. The drop runner will either have to wait for a ride or arrange for someone to pick them up. PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE AT YOUR AID STATION BE PREPARED TO SWEEP. THEY WILL GO FROM YOUR AID STATION TO THE NEXT REMOVING ANY CHALK ARROWS ON THE GROUND BY KICKING DIRT…..REALLY TRY HARD TO NOT LEAVE A TRACE. PICKING UP ANY STAKES WITH VELCRO SIGNS……GENTLY SEPARATING THEM AND PLACING THEM IN THE SWEEP BAG PROVIDED IN YOUR AID STATION BIN. ALSO THEY ARE TO REMOVE ANY PINK, YELLOW OR ORANGE RIBBONS FORM ANY BUSHES AND CONES FROM THE GROUND. ALL OF THESE CAN BE PLACE INTO THE SWEEPERS BAG.
Aid 1/5: CAPTAIN: SALLEY HERNANDEZ Is on West Bernardo Drive to be set up on the bike path where the single track from the south lake trail dumps out. This is a CRITICAL aid station for making sure Half Marathoners continue past them on their way out in the morning and on their return Half marathoners must be directed to MAKE A RIGHT TURN onto the single track trail on their final approach to the finish around mile 11. YOU WILL SEE THEM COMING ACROSS THE LAKE HODGES BRIDGE THEN TURNING RIGHT ON THE BIKE PATH ON WEST BERNARDO DRIVE AS THEY APPROACH YOU…..MAKE THEM TURN RIGHT PLEASE! You will be their last aid station. You will also direct 5K RUNNERS TO MAKE A LEFT WHEN THEY APPROACH YOU. 5K RUNNERS DO NOT PASS YOU THE WAY HALF MARATHON RUNNERS DID. YOU ARE THEIR FIRST AND ONLY AID STATION AND IT IS CRITICAL YOU DIRECT THEM TO GO LEFT WHEN THEY APPROACH. HOW DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 5k AND HALF MARATHON…..THE HALF MARATHONERS START AT 7AM AND WILL ALL BE WELL PAST YOU AS THE 5k STARTS AT 7:20.
Aid 2/4: CAPTAIN GISELA MORENO Is at the Lake Hodges Marina. It is IMPORTANT THAT YOU SET UP ON THE TRAIL AND NOT IN THE PARKING AREA! RUNNERS WILL RETURN THE WAY THEY CAME SO YOU WILL SET UP ON THE EAST END OF THE MARINA INSIDE THE GATE ON THE DIRT TRAIL. THIS MAY REQUIRE A LITTLE HELP FROM THE AID STATION PEEPS TO DIRECT RUNNERS THROUGH THE PARKING AREA SO THEY DO NOT GET CONFUSED. AFTER LEAVING THIS AID STATION THEY WILL RUN APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO THE NEXT AID STATION THEN 2 MILES BACK TO YOU.
Aid 3 Turn-Around: CAPTAIN RILEY is aT the Lake Hodges parking area just to the North of Hernandez Hideaway dirt parking area. Runners will do a little “lollypop loop” here as they pass through your aid station. When the last runner goes through a sweeper can follow them back to the marina while Riley will pack up the U-haul and drive over to the marina. Once the last runner leaves the marina Riley will pack up the U-haul and BRING EVERYTHING BACK TO THE START/FINISH. The Marina Aid station will have a sweeper follow the last runners to the First/Last aid station on West Bernardo Drive at the single track entrance. Once the last runner passes through the last aid station sweepers will follow them to the finish. Whomever is left at the aid station will either bring the aid station equipment back to the Gazebo or call us so we can send the U-haul to pick it up.
Timing: Mark Bernstein, Mike Harvey. Will print 5K results at 9 am sharp so we can hand out 5K awards. Will print Half Marathon results at 10:00 am sharp so that we can begin to coordinate handing out Half Marathon Awards.
